Mis1nf0
Mis1nf0 is a 2023 educational visual novel and strategy game about misinformation and media literacy. The player follows a financially struggling protagonist who becomes a detective at a journalism company. Their job is to judge newspaper material as truth or misinformation, while trying to keep the company and themselves afloat.
The premise makes the work of checking a story uncomfortable in a useful way. Accuracy matters, but so do finances and personal morality. A true answer can still have a cost, and the pressure to make money can pull in the other direction. The detective framing gives those decisions a practical shape instead of treating media literacy as a vocabulary list.
At the center is a simple question with no simple consequence: is this piece of newspaper material true, and what happens if the answer is inconvenient? The player weighs the material against the situation around it. The project combines visual-novel and strategy elements and has multiple endings.
Mis1nf0 is still an in-progress record of that idea. It is less a simulation of journalism than a fictional detective setup for thinking about how information gets judged. The hand-drawn presentation and multiple endings keep the subject grounded in a game rather than a lecture.
This was a team project, and I contributed to the work rather than making it alone. It is hand-drawn, single-player, and built around a detective theme with multiple endings. The project uses Godot 4.2 and DialogueManager. Its status is In development.
